Profile

 Amelia Choi is an Intellectual Property (IP) lawyer, a registered trademark agent in Canada, and a notary public of Ontario.  She counsels clients in all IP and corporate legal matters, and assists in securing IP protection and enforcing IP rights.   Amelia was appointed to represent Canada in the Presidential Task Force for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Entrepreneurship at the International Trademark Association (INTA).  She was also part of the INTA Commercialization of Brands Leadership Team and served as the Co-Chair of the Brand Growth Strategies for SMEs subcommittee at INTA, as well as the Chair of the IP Trade Policy Committee of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC). She is currently serving in the Anti-counterfeiting Committee at INTA and the same as Vice-Chair at IPIC. Amelia graduated with high distinction across all her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science, and her J.D. degree.

 Amelia has held numerous senior corporate leadership and management positions in several global high-tech and information technology companies.  This experience uniquely positions Amelia to truly understand each of our clients' unique business needs and challenges, and enables her to take a balanced approach in devising practical advice and comprehensive solutions in her legal practice.  She also has extensive R&D experience, leading global multi-disciplinary teams in delivering cutting edge technologies and superb customer service.

 Amelia advises clients in all IP matters, assists them in securing IP protection and in enforcing their IP rights, and provides IP transaction support for business sales and acquisitions.  She has worked closely with a global network of foreign IP professionals in preparing and prosecuting patent and trade-mark applications in Canada and other major jurisdictions.  She has also represented clients before the Trademark Opposition Board, and has provided extensive litigation support in several pharmaceutical and technology-related patent trials before the Federal Court of Canada.

 Amelia has held numerous senior global corporate leadership positions in the high-tech sector; and has successfully delivered large-scale telecommunications products, IT/IS infrastructure and services, data warehousing and business software solutions.  She has led the end-to-end inception and execution of these multi-million  dollar programs with her global multi-disciplinary teams, encompassing customer engagements, business development and business planning, offshore contractual/partnership management, program/project/release management and delivery, outsourcing initiatives, workforce management, R&D of both software and hardware, manufacturing and operations, product trial management, system deployment, and global customer care & support.
